REDIII - Fit for 55

At CF Renewables France, we are fully committed to the Renewable Energy Directive (REDIII) and the Fit for 55 initiative. This ambitious plan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels, setting Europe on a clear path towards becoming a climate-neutral continent by 2050. We are actively aligning our operations and strategies with these goals, investing in renewable energy technologies, and implementing practices that contribute to a sustainable and resilient energy future. We believe that our commitment to this initiative not only makes us a part of the solution to the climate crisis but also positions us as a leader in the renewable energy sector.

Compliance and Certifications

Compliance and certification are cornerstones of our operations at CF Renewables France. We understand the importance of adhering to industry regulations and standards, and we strive to exceed them wherever possible. Our team works diligently to ensure that our processes and products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. We hold ourselves accountable to these standards and continuously seek relevant certifications to validate our commitment. By doing so, we not only ensure the integrity of our operations but also build trust with our clients and stakeholders.
CF Renewables France is proud to be associated with various registration systems such as ISCC, Carbure, Nabisy, System National, TIRUERT, Vet Registration, and Swiss registering. These systems play a crucial role in our operations, allowing us to ensure the traceability of our products from source to end-user. They also enable us to uphold our commitment to sustainability by verifying that our products meet stringent environmental and social criteria. Our partnerships with these systems are a testament to our dedication to delivering the highest quality energy solutions to our clients and contributing to a more sustainable energy sector.

ISCC

The International Sustainability & Carbon Certification is an independent multi-stakeholder initiative fully recognized by the European Commission who issues certifications of proof of traceability, environmental, and social criteria as well as certifying biofuel and biomass companies in accordance with the EU regulations for transportation fuels. The certification of the ISCC covers all types of sustainable feedstocks such as biomass from agriculture, aquaculture and forestry, biogenetic waste and residues, non-biological renewable materials and recycled carbon-based products and materials. The ISCC supports efforts towards a circular green economy. Five certification systems are in place offering various chain-of-custody systems addressing different market requirements and ensuring traceability and feedstock identity. ISCC EU: recognized by the European Commission which demonstrates compliance with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II)’s sustainability criteria for biofuels and bioliquids as well as recognition by the United Kingdom’s renewable fuel obligation. ISCC PLUS: a voluntary certification for extra-EU/UK biofuels, food and feed markets, and plastics and chemicals. ISCC CORSIA: recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the certification of CORSIA-eligible (Carbon Offsetting and reduction Scheme for International Aviation) sustainable aviation fuels. ISCC Solid Biomass NL: recognized by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy to comply with the Dutch sustainability requirements for solid biomass for energy applications SDE+. ISCC Japan FIT: incentive-based system to promote the production of renewable electricity in Japan including subsidies for the procurement of palm kernel shells and palm trunks. The ISCC is one of the largest compliance and certification bodies in the world and facilitates the trading of sustainable Agri-products. At CF Renewables, we are under the ISCC EU system within the ISCC network.

TIRUERT

Governments worldwide are working towards a cleaner, more sustainable future by promoting the use of renewable energy sources, like solar or wind power, instead of fossil fuels. One important policy in this effort is the Incentive Tax Relating to the Use of Renewable Energy in Transport (TIRUERT). This policy, introduced as part of the customs code, encourages businesses and individuals to use more renewable energy in transportation by offering tax incentives. It has replaced an older policy called the Incentive Tax Relating to the Incorporation of Biofuels (TIRIB), showing a shift towards a broader approach to promoting renewable energy. TIRUERT works by setting goals for using renewable energy in transportation and reducing taxes for those who meet these goals. To qualify for tax breaks, users must show they're using a certain amount of renewable energy in their fuels, following strict sustainability rules. Targets for renewable energy use have increased since 2022, and the policy now even includes incentives for electric vehicle charging stations. With ongoing legislative changes and reporting requirements, TIRUERT aims to drive significant changes in how we power our transportation systems, ultimately leading towards a more sustainable future for everyone.

CarbuRE

CarbuRe is a biofuel management platform and tool developed by the French ministry of Ecological Transition that allows actors within the biofuel industry to exchange information and specifications on the sustainability of the biofuels in circulation within France. The platform also provides anonymous public statistics about biofuels incorporated into fossil fuels in France. While the platform was initially dedicated to road transport, it now also hosts an entire section dedicated to aviation, collaborating with the DGAC and DGEC.

Nabisy

Nabisy, Nachhaltige Biomasse System, is the German government’s platform for sustainable biomass operated by the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE). Nabisy proves the sustainability of biofuels and bioliquids from biomass in accordance with the European Union’s Directive 2009/28/EC (promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources). Registration of information related to the sustainability of biofuels and electricity production from sustainable biomass is obligatory for marketers of biofuels and bioliquids. In order to use the Nabisy platform, operators are required to be registered national system of a member state certification system recognized by the Commission of the European Communities. Nabisy allows operators to divide, combine, and transfer partial proof of sustainability documents to one or more recipients.
